Japan orders Russian consul to leave in retaliatory move

Japan on Tuesday ordered a Russian consul based mostly in northern Japan to go away the nation inside six days in retaliation for Moscow’s expulsion of a Japanese diplomat final month, Overseas Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi stated.

Hayashi advised reporters that his ministry declared the consul on the Russian Consulate Normal in Sapporo persona non grata after Russia’s Federal Safety Service detained a Japanese consul in Vladivostok for a couple of hours for alleged espionage and ordered him in a foreign country.
