Hong Kong remains largely indifferent to China’s ‘COVID-zero’ protests

Regardless of an unprecedented present of civil disobedience in mainland China over its stringent “COVID-zero” measures, folks in Hong Kong have thus far demonstrated a notable lack of sympathy and assist towards the state of affairs throughout the border.

Over the previous week, Hong Kong has seen a collection of small-scale solidarity protests at native universities and on the streets, with people lighting candles and holding white placards in assist of the demonstrations throughout China.

However regardless of this obvious present of solidarity, there was little participation from native Hong Kong residents, as trade college students and immigrants from the mainland primarily attended the protests.
