PUCSL approves increase in electricity tariffs by 75%

Colombo, Aug 8 (AdaDerana) – The Public Utilities Fee of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) has granted its approval to extend electrical energy tariffs by 75%.

Based on the chairperson of the electrical energy sector regulator Janaka Ratnayake, the tariff revision is efficient from tomorrow (August 10).

Via this tariff revision, the electrical energy invoice of the customers who use as much as 30 items per 30 days will enhance by Rs. 198.

In the meantime, the common month-to-month electrical energy invoice for individuals who devour as much as 60 items might be elevated by roughly Rs. 200. 

Though the Ceylon Electrical energy Board (CEB) had sought a rise of 276% for the customers who use greater than 90 items, the PUCSL gave the nod for a hike of 125%, Mr. Ratnayake stated additional.
